Anglo Asian Mining said Monday that it will reevaluate the location of its second tailings dam in Azerbaijan, set to be constructed close to the existing dam, after local protests against it.

The Azerbaijan-focused mining company said that environmental sampling of the area surrounding the existing dam, which was carried out by various government departments and assisted by independent laboratories, showed no contamination nor higher incidence of disease in the neighbouring population.

The company will reevaluate the technical and environmental aspects of the second tailings dam in collaboration with the Azerbaijani government.
