Neptune Energy awarded lithium exploration licenses in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

Neptune Energy has been granted exploration licenses for lithium in northern Saxony-Anhalt by the State Office for Geology and Mining (LAGB) in mid-August. The licenses cover the areas “Milde A-L” and “Milde C-L,” which span parts of the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, Stendal and Börde districts. Over the next five years, Neptune Energy is authorized to explore these regions for lithium deposits. The exploration process will involve data evaluation and subsurface modeling, with the potential for drilling an exploration well, pending further approvals under mining law. More details are available on the LAGB’s official announcement at LAGB Website.

Additionally, Neptune Energy holds a mining production license in the Altmark district of Salzwedel, where lithium and geothermal energy extraction are already underway. Lithium has been confirmed in this area, and extraction from brine is expected to commence as part of a pilot project in the fourth quarter of 2024, pending official approvals.
