Eurobattery Minerals secures 10-year offtake agreement with Boliden for Hautalampi project in Finland

Mining company Eurobattery Minerals AB has announced a non-binding offtake agreement with Boliden AB for its Hautalampi battery mineral project in Finland. This agreement, valid for a minimum of 10 years, marks a significant milestone for Eurobattery Minerals.

CEO Roberto García Martinez highlighted the importance of this agreement, stating that it represents a key step towards achieving carbon-zero production of critical raw materials at the Hautalampi project. He expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Boliden, praising their alignment with Eurobattery Minerals’ goals and values. The company is also exploring potential offtake agreements for nickel and cobalt.

The agreement, established through Eurobattery Minerals’ Finnish subsidiary FinnCobalt Oy, involves Boliden purchasing the full copper concentrate production from Hautalampi for at least 10 years. The concentrates will be processed at Boliden’s Harjavalta Copper Smelter in Finland and/or the Rönnskär Copper Smelter in Sweden.

Located 345 km from Helsinki in the Outokumpu Mining Camp Area, the Hautalampi project encompasses a 277-hectare mining concession with significant cobalt, nickel, and copper mineralization. A 2023 pre-feasibility study estimates an annual production of approximately 500,000 tonnes of ore with a mine life exceeding 12 years. The project’s mineral resources are classified as viable according to UNFC standards, and an Environmental Permit Application was submitted in April 2024.
