Ukrainian company Velta, based in Novomyrhorod (Kirovohrad region), has been awarded a €7.3 million grant from the European Union for a four-year project aimed at advancing titanium extraction and processing techniques. This funding, received under the Resilient Value Chains 2024 competition of the REPTiS project, is intended to enhance every stage of titanium production, from ilmenite ore extraction at the Byrzulivske deposit to the creation of low-carbon titanium powders.

The project will implement and test new methods at Velta’s facilities to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Velta’s CEO, Andriy Brodskyi, emphasized the significance of this grant, highlighting Ukraine’s strategic role as an EU partner in critical materials. He noted that the recognition of Ukrainian technologies in Europe opens up new collaboration and development opportunities.

The REPTiS project unites 11 leading European companies and research institutes specializing in titanium materials and production. A major focus of the initiative is the development of environmentally friendly technologies for titanium powder production, utilizing the innovative Ukrainian Velta Ti Process.
