Endeavour mining downplays impact of Sabodala-Massawa mine strike on gold output in Senegal

Endeavour Mining has stated that a strike at its Sabodala-Massawa mine in Senegal is not expected to affect its gold production targets for the year, despite the stoppage entering its second day.

In a statement released late Friday, the company noted that while the strike is impacting some operations, others are continuing normally. Endeavour Mining does not anticipate a significant impact on its ability to meet its production guidance for the year, although it expects costs to be near the upper end of the projected range.

The company is actively working to resolve the strike and anticipates that full operations will resume soon. This outlook contrasts with an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg earlier this week, which suggested that even a brief strike could have a severe impact on production in the short term, potentially affecting normal operations for several months.

In April, Endeavour Mining had reaffirmed its annual production guidance of between 1.13 million and 1.27 million ounces of gold, following an expansion at the Sabodala-Massawa site.
