Akobo Minerals has marked a major milestone in its gold mining project in Ethiopia by successfully intersecting the ore body in the prospect drive near the Eastern Winze area. This advancement represents a crucial step in the company’s strategic efforts to develop its gold mine.

The focus has been on the comprehensive development of the Eastern Winze, which is vital for future production. The primary objective is the development of the prospect drive that will link the Eastern and Western Winzes. This crosscut will enhance ore extraction rates, facilitate the start of stoping operations, improve safety with dual exits from the mine, and support effective ventilation. Additionally, the lower elevation of the Eastern Winze will optimize stoping operations.

Following the completion of successful commissioning activities, Akobo Minerals is now ready to produce gold from the Segele mine. The ongoing development and blasting activities are expected to progress into the Segele ore body.
