Gold miner Akobo Minerals has announced the successful production of its first gold concentrate at the Segele processing plant in Ethiopia.

Following the final phase of commissioning, which confirmed the plant’s operational functionality, the company has begun processing low-grade gold ore. This phase is aimed at testing and optimizing the plant’s performance before transitioning to higher-grade ore for full production.

The Segele site boasts an inferred and indicated mineral resource of 68,000 ounces, with a notable grade of 22.7 g/t. The plant is designed to produce up to 4,000 ounces of gold per month, with an anticipated recovery rate of 96%.
