JPMC partners with Waterise for innovative deep sea desalination project in Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan

Jordan Phosphates Mines Company (JPMC), a major global producer of phosphate and phosphate-based fertilizers, has entered into a strategic partnership with Waterise, a pioneering Norwegian startup specializing in environmentally friendly deep sea desalination. Their collaboration aims to launch an ambitious project in the Gulf of Aqaba to address JPMC’s growing water demands.

Currently, JPMC and Waterise are finalizing water offtake arrangements and other necessary details before moving forward with definitive agreements. This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing JPMC’s operational efficiency and achieving its sustainability goals by utilizing Waterise’s cutting-edge desalination technology.

H.E. Dr. Mohammed Thneibat, Chairman of JPMC, emphasized the alignment of this partnership with their commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. He highlighted the project’s potential to ensure a consistent water supply while minimizing ecological impact, benefiting both JPMC’s operations and the local community.

Niels Petter Wright, CEO of Waterise, expressed excitement about the collaboration, describing their deep sea desalination solution as a groundbreaking advancement in sustainable water production. Built upon top-tier oil and gas technology and marine operations expertise, Waterise aims to deliver a reliable and environmentally friendly water supply tailored to JPMC’s critical needs in the Gulf of Aqaba.

Together, JPMC and Waterise are poised to pioneer sustainable solutions that set new benchmarks in water management, contributing positively to environmental conservation and industrial sustainability in the region.
